Handmade stamped clay. It has holes for a cord so that it can be worn as a pendant. They are about 2" long and 1 1/2" wide and aboout 1" deep.

Every year I make a new batch of clay Ocarinas. They are stamped in a wide range of variety and decoration so no two are the same. Some are left plain so the stain can define the look and most of them have either a howling wolf or one of two different Celtic designs on them. One of the Celtic designs is a basic knotwork design and the other is from a motif found on a ancient bronze scabbard from Scotland. These designs are part of the mould so with the personalized stamping and unique staining each one becomes one of a kind.

There are many types of Ocarinas. They are as historically and geographically diverse as the cultures that use them. The Africans use gourds, the Chinese have a version that uses a goose egg and for thousands of years, South and Central Americans have made clay whistles in a multitude of shapes, sizes and sounds. In the 19th century, the Italians had Ocarina orchestras using the larger "Sweet Potato" Ocarina. This small 4 holed clay whistle has a chromatic octave in the key of "B"
